Vord Terms of Service
Effective October 14, 2026. Previous versions: none.
These terms are the agreement between you and Dotcom Services Inc., doing business as Vord, Los Angeles, California, United States (“we”, “us”) for the Vord app, the account behind it and the website getvord.com. By creating an account or using Vord you accept them. If you do not, do not use Vord.
The short version
- One account per person. Keep it to yourself.
- Your recordings and text stay yours. We use them only to do what you asked.
- You are responsible for recording people lawfully. Vord cannot decide that for you.
- Transcripts and summaries can contain mistakes. Check them before you rely on them.
- Each plan includes a set amount of use each month, shared across features, and each feature has its own monthly limit. Heavy use means a bigger plan.
- Cancel any time; you keep the plan to the end of the month you paid for. Email us within 14 days of a payment for a full refund, no questions asked.
1. Who can use Vord
You must be 18 or older and able to enter a contract. Vord is for your own use, personal or at work. If you use it for your employer, you confirm you are allowed to.
2. Your account
You sign in with Google or Apple. The account is yours alone: do not share it or let anyone else use it, and tell us at [email protected] if you think someone has. Use an account you will keep: your plan, your trial and your Macs belong to it. You can delete the account in Settings › Account; it is deleted after a 7-day hold. Deleting cancels your subscription and refunds nothing by itself; the 14-day rule in section 9 still applies.
3. The app
We give you a license to install and run Vord on Macs you own or control. The features that use our servers need an account in good standing; without one you can still open Vord to read, export and delete what is on your Mac. The app is ours; do not copy, resell, rent, modify or reverse engineer it, except where the law lets you. Vord updates itself through its built-in updater; you can check for updates yourself from the menu.
4. Your content
You keep whatever rights you have in what you dictate, record, transcribe, summarize or read aloud. We claim none. You give us only the permission we need to process it for you: to pass it to the services that transcribe, summarize or voice it, and to show it back to you. You must have the right to use that content and to let us and those services process it. Our servers do not save recordings or transcripts; request logs can hold your custom vocabulary for 7 days. The privacy policy says what each service receives and keeps.
You are responsible for what you record and dictate. Do not use Vord for anything illegal, to harass anyone, or in a way that harms the services it relies on.
5. Recording other people
Vord records your microphone and the sound playing on your Mac, which is the other side of a call. Laws on recording conversations differ by place. Some places, California among them, require the consent of everyone on the call. You are responsible for giving any notice and getting any consent the law requires before you record, and for following the rules of the meeting service you use. Telling people is not the same as consent where consent is required, and a meeting service’s own recording notice does not cover Vord. We do not decide whether notice or consent is required for any meeting, and we cannot take that responsibility for you.
6. Transcripts, summaries and voices
The text Vord produces comes from speech recognition and language models. It can mishear words, name the wrong speaker, summarize wrongly or miss something. Review it before you act on it, send it or rely on it. It is not legal, medical, financial or other professional advice. Voices are synthetic; do not present them as a real person’s.
7. The free trial
Each person gets one free trial: 14 days, no card needed, with a set amount of use that includes up to 3 hours of meetings. A second account does not get a second trial. The trial ends when the time or the use runs out, whichever comes first, and never turns into a paid plan by itself. What you recorded stays on your Mac either way.
8. Plans, payment and cancellation
Paid plans are monthly subscriptions sold by Polar, our payment partner and the merchant of record. The checkout shows the price and that it renews monthly, and asks you to agree before you pay; Polar charges your card, handles taxes and emails a receipt you can keep. We never see your card. A plan renews each month until you cancel. Cancel any time from Settings › Account › Manage billing or the link in Polar’s emails; you keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for, and you are not charged again. Deleting your account is different: every Mac is signed out at once and the plan ends on day 7 (section 2). If we change a plan’s price we tell you by email 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
Buying during the trial starts the paid plan right away. Moving to a bigger plan mid-month is charged for the time left in the month and takes effect at once.
9. Refunds
Within 14 days of any payment, a renewal included, email [email protected] from the address you bought with and we refund that payment in full and cancel the subscription together, no questions asked; the plan ends with the refund. Refunds go to the card you paid with. After 14 days a payment is not refundable, except where the law says otherwise; your statutory rights apply on top of this. We refund only for the person who bought, and may ask you to reply from the purchase address.
10. What a plan includes
Each plan includes a set amount of use each month across dictation, meetings with their polish and summary, cleanup, translation and Read Aloud. Each feature also has its own monthly limit, so no one feature can use up the whole month. Use you did not need carries over while your plan stays active, but each feature’s monthly limit still applies. Included use has no cash value and ends with the plan. When you reach a limit Vord tells you, and the feature waits until next month’s use arrives or you move to a bigger plan. A meeting you are already recording keeps recording; its transcription may stop at the limit and can be finished later with the Polish button. Reaching a limit never deletes what is on your Mac.
The included use is sized for a person using Vord interactively, by hand. Do not use Vord as a bulk transcription or text-to-speech service, drive it with scripts or automation, share one account between people, or resell its output as a service. We may change the included amounts with 30 days’ notice, taking effect at a renewal, never inside a period you already paid for; and we may slow or refuse use that looks automated or abusive to keep Vord working for everyone.
11. Free plans we grant
We may give some people a free plan at our discretion, for example early users. Such a plan can be changed or ended with 30 days’ notice.
12. Availability and changes
We do our best to keep Vord working, but it depends on services run by others and can be slow or unavailable at times. We may change, add or remove features, and we may stop offering Vord. If we stop, we tell you at least 30 days ahead and refund the unused part of any prepaid period. Your recordings and transcripts are on your Mac and stay yours.
13. Ending the agreement
You can stop at any time by cancelling and deleting your account. We can suspend or close your account if you break these terms, fail to pay, or use Vord in a way that harms others or the services it relies on; we tell you why. Closing the account does not take away the refund right in section 9 or any right the law gives you. Sections 4, 5, 6, 9, 14, 15, 16 and 18 survive the end of the agreement.
14. Disclaimers
Vord is provided as is. We do not promise that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose, or that any transcript, summary or voice will be accurate. Where the law does not allow these disclaimers, they apply only as far as it allows.
15. Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising out of Vord or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for Vord through Polar in the 12 months before the event, or $100 if that is more, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss of data on your Mac. These limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct or gross negligence, to liability the law does not let us limit, to your refund rights, or to your rights as a consumer where you live.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. If something goes wrong, write to [email protected] first; we will try to sort it out with you within 30 days. If that fails, the courts of Los Angeles County, California, decide, unless the consumer law of the country you live in gives you the right to go to your own courts, which it keeps. You may also use small claims court. These terms do not require arbitration and do not waive class actions.
17. Changes to these terms
We will post changes here with a new date and keep previous versions linked. For a change that reduces your rights we give 30 days’ notice by email. Changes never apply backwards. If you keep using Vord after a change takes effect, you accept it; if you do not accept it, cancel before then.
18. Other things
These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about Vord. If a part of them cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. We may hand this agreement to a company that takes over Vord; you may not hand it to anyone. Contact: [email protected]. Dotcom Services Inc., doing business as Vord, Los Angeles, California.
